The Vandalia Sport Fishing and Conservation Club held its Classic Bass Tournament on Vandalia Lake on Oct. 19 and 20.

The tournament was the final one administered by club President John Blythe, who will step down from his position at the end of the year.

Mike Lindley will take over his duties.

Vandalia Lake hosted the fifth annual Illinois Collegiate State Bass Tournament on Sunday, and two of the participants were graduates of Brownstown High School.

Twenty-five two-man teams competed, with a Western Illinois University team topping the field with a 14.81-pound total. A McKendree University team placed second with a 12.17-pound total, and a team from the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Bassmasters Club was third with more than 11 pounds of bass.

The Vandalia Sport Fishing and Conservation Club held an Open Bass Tournament on Vandalia Lake on Saturday, July 27.

Last month, John Blythe, President of the Vandalia Sport Fishing and Conservation Club, gave a youth fishing clinic at Carlyle Lake.

The Vandalia Sport Fishing and Conservation Club wrapped up its season recently by handing out plaques to the top three finishers in the points standings.

The Vandalia Sport Fishing and Conservation Club held a kids fishing tournament on Saturday, June 8, in conjunction with the Cumberland Trail chapter of Quail Unlimited.

A total of 28 kids took part in the tournament, and 357 fish were caught.
