Meet Anna Garner, the Leader-Union’s Newest Reporter

Hello, my name is Anna Garner. I am the new reporter and editor at the Vandalia Leader Union. I wanted to introduce myself to the readers and community and let you know a little bit about me. 

I was raised in Ball Ground, Georgia and moved to Illinois when I was 19. I currently attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville pursuing a degree in journalism and public relations. I also serve in the Missouri National Guard and have been for almost 6 years. I got married in 2024 and bought a house in Hillsboro in 2025, where me and my husband currently reside. 

I am striving to bring the best coverage of local news, sports and townwide events to the Leader Unions dedicated readers. I can not wait to get to know the area more and the people who call Vandalia their home.
