The hailstorm, which occurred the middle of March, had cut over a thousand holes in the liner. After several discussions and possible options, the Vandalia Park Board decided to wait until the company, which had put in the original liner was available, possibly mid-August.

Repairs on the liner of the swimming pool begin Friday, August 22. After viewing its progress the following Monday, Vandalia Swimming Pool Manager Lisa Robbins reported that the old damaged pool liner had been completely removed and the new liner had been rolled out. Robbins spoke to John from Natare Corporation, who put in the original liner. John explained why they are currently at a standstill.  In 1996 before the first liner was put in, the old underwater lights had to be removed and covered over. When the recently damaged liner was removed, the material covering those lights had crumbled, and they cannot be repaired by Natare without the Vandalia Park Board’s permission.

The latest update from Vandalia Park Board Secretary Heather Osborne is that “all is approved and on track.” A pressure test was scheduled for Tuesday,

September 2nd.
