Brownstown Hires Lund as New Superintendent

The Brownstown Community Unity School District #201 Board of Education announced last week that David Lund has been hired as the new superintendent for Brownstown Schools.
The board voted 6-0 to approve the hiring of Lund during their March 18 meeting.
“Our selection reflects the board’s commitment to the future of our district, ensuring that we are led by someone with vision, integrity, and a proven track record of leadership,” board president Don Bloemker said. “David Lund stood out in a field of very qualified candidates, and we are confident in his ability to usher in an era of innovative educational excellence for our schools.”
Lund has a long history in education, spanning over twenty years, where he has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, director of special programs, and currently serves as

the superintendent for the Selmaville School District in Salem, IL.
Lund received his bachelors degree from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, and a Masters degree in Human Relations and Counseling from Northern Arizona University. Lund then went on to earn a masters in business administration from the University of Phoenix, a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from National Louis University, and a specialist in educational leadership from Concordia University in Chicago.

Lund will assume superintendent duties, effective July 1, 2024, replacing the departing current superintendent, Mike Shackelford.
