Doris M. Langston, age 103, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2023, at her residence in Deerfield, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Langston; daughter Joanne Langston Card; grandson Wesley Langston; son-in-law, Denny Gerkin, and grand son-in-law, Blake Pattillo.
Doris was born on October 2, 1920. She was the daughter of William and Josephine Pope. She married Roy on October 6, 1943.
Doris leaves behind kids Betty Ann Langston, Kenneth and Elaine Langston, Patricia Gerkin/husband Roger, Arthur and Stacey Langston, Greg and Bridget Langston, and Mark and Stella Langston. She had 17 grandkids, 36 great grandkids and 3 great great grandkids.
Doris was the owner/operator of the Heritage Shelter Care home after the passing of her husband. She sold the business in 1984 and retired later to Florida.
Doris was active at the Mother of Dolors Catholic Church where she played the organ and upon moving to Florida she sang in the choir at St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Doris’s cremains will be returned to Vandalia for a burial and celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Mother of Dolors Catholic Church.
