Ronald Alan Dachsteiner, age 85, passed peacefully the morning of Friday, March 3, 2023, at his home in Mulberry Grove, IL.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Dachsteiner, nee Ryan, children Brenda (Rodger) Vielweber, David Dachsteiner, Donald Dachsteiner, Rich (Erika) Phillips, Greg (Tammy) Phillips, and Jeff (Caryn) Phillips; thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his dear friends, Smokey and Amy Newsom.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Shirley Jean Dachsteiner, nee Strong; parents Charles Frederick Dachsteiner and Bertha Dachsteiner, nee Rasure; brother Charlie Dachsteiner and Dorothy Dachsteiner, nee Lybarger;
and sister Lela Dachsteiner.

Ron was born on December 1, 1937, in St Louis, Missouri. He joined the United States Navy in 1954 and served on the USS Bennington, an Essex-class aircraftcarrier.. After eight years of service, Ron moved on to work as an electrician and carpenter for the remainder of his career. In 1996, he married Linda Ryan Phillips at their home in Mulberry Grove. He retired shortly thereafter, later dedicating his time to Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. As the Building Chairman, he helped complete thirteen homes for the
community of Fayette County, IL. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for
fishing, was quick with a joke, and he never met a stranger.

Friends and family may gather at Northside Christian Church, 1845 Jackson Street in Vandalia, for a
Celebration of Ron’s Life at 4:00pm March 6, 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Catholic War
Veterans Post 370, 3535 S. Route 159, Freeburg, IL. 62243, where Ron was a member, or St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital. Graveside service with military honors to be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery
at a later date.
