Sally J. Bone, 84, Champaign

Sally Jo Bone (Jett), 84, of Champaign, Illinois passed away on January 16, 2023.

Sally was born on April 14, 1938 in Mulberry Grove, Illinois to Ralph and Edna Jett. Sally graduated from Mulberry Grove High School in 1956. After high school Sally worked at Sears Roebuck for 20 years.

In November of 1956, Sally married the love of her life, Herbert Bone, also of Mulberry Grove. They had 46  wonderful years together. They raised a family, traveled the United States by motorcycle, opened a country music opry in Central Illinois, and much more.

In their retirement, Herb and Sally opened and operated the Bement Country Opry for 10 years. Music was an important part of their lives and they were committed to supporting local and new musicians. Their opry was a welcoming and friendly place for many artists and audience members.

Eventually Sally and Herb passed the Opry down to the next generation of country music lovers and retired to Paris, Illinois to enjoy golfing, fishing, and coffee every morning with friends. After the passing of her husband in 2004, Sally returned to Champaign where she was a volunteer at Carle Hospital.

Sally enjoyed sewing, frequently making clothing and custom requested Halloween costumes for her grandchildren, reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

Sally will be missed by her family, including her stepbrother Rick, her daughters Lynn (Kevin) Ullestad and Lisa (Dan) Singer, her son Bradley (Jeri) Bone, six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Sally is preceded in death by her husband, both of her parents, and three sisters.
