Del Knecht
Delbert Earl Knecht (age 76) of Fishers, Indiana passed away in the hospital of Fishers, Indiana on 01 Dec. 2022, from complications related to Parkinsons Disease.
![]() Del Knecht He was born in Mark Greer Hospital, Vandalia, Illinois on 13 Feb. 1946, the son of Edward and Frieda (Malchow) Knecht of rural Shobonier. He graduated from Immanuel Lutheran Grade School, Augsburg and Vandalia Community High School with the class of 1964. He was also a graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carterville Campus, earning a degree in electronics. |
He joined the Army Reserves in Vandalia and spent six months active duty in the states, but in June 1968, he was one of ten local Army Reservists called up from Company C, 7th Battalion, 35th Armored Division for another eighteen months active duty, where he served as a senior radio repairman stationed at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
Del Knecht and Jane Bea Springer of Bloomington, IL. were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Augsburg on 19 Nov. 1972.
During his career, he worked for IBM, Magnavox, the University of Illinois Computer Department, Hobbico Remote Control Products and a Computer Research Firm that enhanced record keeping and efficiency of police department dispatching.
During the past 15 years, he and his wife Jane worked in partnership selling residential real estate in and around Carmel and Fishers, Indiana.
His hobbies included gardening, travel, Corvettes and John Deere Tractors.
He leaves his beloved wife Jane, after having just celebrated 50 years of marriage in November. Also, one brother David Knecht and wife Nancy of East Lansing, MI., and two nieces, Melissa (Knecht) and husband Dr. Oliver Hamil of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and Melanie Knecht and fiancee Tim Schutz of Ann Arbor, MI.
