Alvin Harold Hipsher, 83, of Ottumwa, IA died at 11:40 a.m. June 6, 2022 at home.

He was born September 29, 1938 in Vandalia, IL to William Elbert and J. Marie Largent Hipsher. Alvin married Ruth Ann Fisher and they later divorced. He married Marie Williams on March 24, 1984.
Alvin grew up on a farm and graduated from Brownstown High School in Illinois. He had worked at Ralston Purina and Hormel in Ottumwa in maintenance. He then moved back to Brownstown, IL and worked as a custodian at the Brownstown High School. He and Marie returned to Ottumwa in 2000.
He enjoyed fishing, loved to be outside, working with his hands, building things and recently learned to sew and play the guitar.
Surviving is his wife, Marie; his children, Brad (Cindy) Hipsher of Minneapolis, MN, Terina McLachlain of Corvallis, OR, Bryan (Tina) Hipsher of New Sharon and Sherene (Brent) Eckley of Jackson, MO; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; step-children, Rick (Kelly) Trier and Pam Williams; 2 step-grandchildren; siblings, Ron, Robert, Leslie, George and David Hipsher and Judy Palecek.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Wilma Kelly.
His body has been cremated. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 13th, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed live on the Reece Funeral Home Facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
