Mabel L. ‘Lucy’ Marcolini, 83, Taylor Springs
Mabel Lucille “Lucy” Marcolini, 83, of Taylor Springs, formerly of Vandalia passed away on March 17, 2022, at her home in Taylor Springs.
Services will be held at noon on Tuesday at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, with Pastor Wesley Bell officiating. Interment will follow at McInturff Cemetery, rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Four Mile Christian Church or Fayette County Cancer Fund. Mabel Lucille Black was born March 1, 1939, in Bowling Green Township, Fayette County, the daughter of William R. and Veta (Leigh) Black. Lucy married Harold Jackson on Dec. 24, 1957; together they shared 41 years of marriage before his passing in 1999. She then married Orville Haywood; he preceded her in death in 2006. She then Andrew Marcolini on April 11, 2010; he preceded her in death in 2017.
Lucy worked as a secretary while she and her husband Harold lived in Chicago, she then worked at Gene’s Red Fox Grocery Store in Brownstown after moving back to Fayette County. Lucy also did in-home healthcare in the late ’70s and early ’80s, all while maintaining a balanced home and caring for her children. Lucy was a member of Four Mile Christian Church in Brownstown and Women of the Moose. Often you would find Lucy dancing and socializing multiple times a week.
She is survived by her sons, John Allen Jackson and James Michael Jackson, both of Vandalia; significant other, Arthur Gutierrez of Taylor Springs; brother, Mark Black of Ramsey; grandchildren, Ashley Jackson, William Jackson, Cassandra Jackson, Gabrielle Koon and Kari Jackson; stepchildren, Dedra Linn, Stacey Corca, Janetta Burossard, Susan Martin, Joseph Haywood, Kenneth Haywood, Beth Paris, Karen Brookfield, Randall Marcolini, Arthur Gutierrez Jr., Marsha Flowers and Christopher Gutierrez; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; caregiver and sister-in-law, Vangie Marsee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; son, Bradley Joe Jackson; brothers, William Black and Melvin Black; sister, Marilyn Smith; daughter-in-law, Lisa Jackson; and stepdaughters, Dorita Haywood, Lorita Aldana and Angel Harrall.
