Roger D. Holland, 70, Altamont

Roger Dean Holland, 70, of Altamont, passed away peacefully at 12:51 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Private family services will be held at a later date and those wishing to make a donation in his memory may be directed to The Giving Plate, Altamont; HSHS Hospice, Effingham; or Crossroads Cancer Center, Effingham. Roger was born on Tuesday, April 24, 1951, in Shelbyville to Donald and Francis Elizabeth (Wallace) Holland.
He graduated from Shelbyville High School, attended Lake Land College and proudly served in the U.S. Army from April 29, 1968, to Dec. 7, 1973, then returned home upon leaving Vietnam. His joys in life were his dog, Marley; his recliner; watching, NASCAR (“Go, Kyle Busch”) and westerns; and spending time with his friends and family. He married his “Sweet Pea” Linda (Stone) Roedl on June 9, 2020.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his daughter, Dianna (Tim) Miller of Altamont; grandchildren, Kayla (Jaz) Sain of Altamont, Tabitha (Cody) Higgs of Spokane, Wash., and Gauge (Lacy) Miller of Danville; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Max, Jax, Jenna, Savanna, Olivia, Jack and Eris; brother, Mike (Rebecca) Holland of Fayetteville, Ark.; and his recliner companion, Marley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard Wallace, Harv Holland and David Rosenbury; and sisters, Peggy Watson, Donna Gordon and Charlotte Evans.
