? Vandalia Community High School volleyball teams will hold their 2011 Volley for a Cure. The freshman match is at 5 p.m. and the junior varsity match is at 6 p.m., with the varsity match to follow. The evening includes an iPad give-away, raffles and an address by Jennifer Knebel.

? Scrapbooking will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at OUR PLACE Youth Center, 507 W. Gallatin St., Vandalia. The scrapbooking is open to ages 8 and over, including adults.

? Happy Hollow Farms will hold its fall festival this Saturday and Sunday. Happy Hollows, which features a you-pick pumpkin patch, is open from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturdays and from 1-5 p.m. on Sundays. It is located east and south of Pinnacle Foods, off of the frontage road south of Interstate 70 at St. Elmo. More information is in the calendar in today's St. Elmo News on Page 4B.
? The inaugural Fun Fest to raise funds for a cure for neurofibromatosis will be held from noon-6 p.m. at Gatch Lake. It will include kids' games, a bouncy house, face-painting, silent auction, gun raffle and bake sale. Cow patty bingo will be played from 3-5 p.m., with the winner receiving $1,000
? A benefit for Connie Crittenden Moreland will be held at the VFW Home on West St. Louis Avenue in Vandalia. A chili supper is from 3-7 p.m., with the cost being $6 for adults and $4 for children. An auction starts at 7 p.m., and there is a 50/50 raffle.
? A country music dance and potluck is held from 7-10 p.m. every Saturday at 202 W. Madison St. in Ramsey (the former Baptist Church). Admission is $5.

? The Shoal Creek Chapter of A.B.A.T.E. will hold its annual toy run, starting after the chapter's October meeting at 1 p.m. at the VFW Home on West St. Louis Avenue in Vandalia. Toys and food collected will be given to Liberty Church in Brownstown. Members will meet at Aldi's in Vandalia at 5:30 p.m. on Friday to shop for the run.
? Mother of Dolors Catholic Church will hold its annual chicken dinner and fall festival from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the church's parish center, 705 W. St. Clair St., Vandalia. The event includes a country store and raffle.

? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a lapsit story time at 10 a.m. The October theme is "Pumpkins and Goblins and Ghosts … Oh, My!"

? A quarter auction to benefit Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care's activity department will be held at the American Legion Home in Vandalia. ? The Fayette County Genealogical & Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. at Evans Public Library in Vandalia. Researchers will share what they have learned and experiences they have had this year in their searches. Members will also be discussing the November meeting.
