Mt. Olive man back in prison after incident early Monday
A Mt. Olive man is back in the Illinois Department of Corrections after being arrested early Monday morning on aggravated arson and methamphetamine charges.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Vandalia Volunteer Fire Department were called to the home of John Cearlock at about 1:30 a.m. for a report of a vehicle fire and criminal incident.
Brian T. Thompson, 35, was taken into custody after allegedly setting a vehicle at the Cearlock residence on fire.
In addition to aggravated arson and possession of methamphetamine, Thompson was charged with arson and criminal trespass to property.
