Cumberland, Mulberry Grove winners on first night of St. Elmo Tournament
The higher seeded teams were winners on the first night of the 59th St. Elmo Holiday Tournament.
In the tournament opener, top-seeded Cumberland defeated the No. 8 seed Ramsey, 65-47.
In the nitecap, No. 4 Mulberry Grove edged No. 5 seed Windsor/Stew-Stras, 45-40.
The tournament continued on Wednesday night, with No. 2 Vandalia facing Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 6:15 p.m. and the host team, No. 3 St. Elmo/Brownstown meeting up with No. 6 Patoka at about 7:45 p.m.
On Thursday, Ramsey and WSS meet in the 6:15 p.m. consolation-bracket game, followed by Mulberry Grove and Cumberland.
The Friday schedule has the losers of the Wednesday games playing at 6:15 p.m. and the Wednesday winners at 7:45 p.m.
The Saturday schedule is: seventh-place game at 3 p.m.; consolation game at 4:30 p.m.; third-place game at 6 p.m.; and championship game at 7:30 p.m.
