Alice Ward, 88, Brownstown

Alice Ward, 88, of Brownstown, died at 9:05 a.m., Monday, April 13, at Fayette County Hospital-Long Term Care, Vandalia.

Private family burial will be held at a later date at Pilcher Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown is assisting the family with arrangements.

Alice J. Ward was born on Tuesday, April 12, 1938 in Shobonier to Charles and Helen (Thompson) Oldham. She married Edward Eugene Ward on Nov. 17, 1956 and he preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 2015. She was a homemaker and retired from P.N. Hirsch, Vandalia.

She is survived by; her son, Bill (Brenda) Ward, Strasburg; daughter-in-law, Lori Ward; sisters, Nancy Braun, Judy Lovall, Ruth (Larry) Lovall, Karen (Dave) Atteberry, Cathy (Joe) Gibson, Joann Neall, and Joyce Oldham; Grandkids, Kandi, Christal, Blake, Josh, Kelsy, and Anthony; and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by; her husband; sons, Jim, Jeff and Brad Ward; parents; sister, Doris and brothers, Kenny, Stan, Gene and David.
