Shirley Ann (King) Fravell Ehrat, 93, Staunton

Shirley Ann (King) Fravell Ehrat, age 93 of Staunton, IL, formerly of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, at Community Hospital in Staunton, IL.

She was born Feb. 29, 1932 in Edwardsville, IL, the daughter of Arthur D. King & Capitola (Row) King. She married James E. Fravell on October 20, 1951. He passed away on July 21, 1967. She later married Walter W. Ehrat on November 26, 1983. He passed away on January 14, 2019. Shirley enjoyed going camping, traveling, bowling, and going out to visit the farm. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia. She loved her family and was a very devoted mother who raised five children. She was a cadet girl Scout leader for each one of her daughters. She especially loved her grandchildren and it brightened her day anytime they would come to visit.

Shirley is survived by her children, Mickey (Debra) Fravell; Gale (Steve) Stahlhut, and Kimberly (Earl) Keller; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 7 great great grandchildren and one on the way; and sister, Sharon (King) Zoeller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, James Fravell and Walter Ehrat; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana (Jim) McMahan and Linda (Bill) Bates; brothers, Jesse, Jack, Delore, Gene, and Darrell King.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with Pastor Brett Cornelius officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service on Tuesday, from 9-11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Radio Ministry.
