South Central boys, girls win regionals

South Central High School picked up a couple of regional titles in recent days.

On Friday, the South Central Cougars boys baseball team defeated No. 1 seeded North Clay to claim the schools third-straight regional championship.

Then, on Saturday, the Lady Cougars defeated Hutsonville/Palestine for the school’s fourth consecutive softball regional championship.

The Cougars, the No. 4 seed in the Altamont Sectional, were to face No. 3 seed Pawnee in a sectional semifinal game, with the winner to advance to the sectional championship on Saturday morning.

The Lady Cougars, the No. 4 seed in the Casey-Westfield Sectional, were to play No. 1 seeded Casey-Westfield on Tuesday afternoon, with the winner advancing to Friday’s sectional championship.

The South Central girls won the school’s fourth consecutive softball regional title last Friday.
