Ross Allen Kershaw, 85, Vandalia

Ross Allen Kershaw, 85, of Vandalia, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025, at his home in Vandalia.

 

Services will be held at 11 AM, Monday, March 31, 2025, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, with Pastor Randy Whitehead officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Rural Fillmore. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Monday, March 31, 2025, at the funeral home. He was born January 4, 1940, in Fayette County, IL, the son of Cecil W. & Helen B. (Towell) Kershaw. He married Carolyn Louise Probst on November 1, 1960, in Vandalia. He worked many years for the Coffeen Coal Mine and later retired from the Coffeen Power Plant. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960. Ross was a member of the Woburn Church of Christ, and he enjoyed traveling to Wyoming, hunting, fishing, sitting out on his porch, working in the yard, and he was an avid reader, sometimes reading two books at a time.

 

He is survived by: Wife – Carolyn L. Kershaw, Vandalia; Children – Timothy R. Kershaw and Anne, Jeffrey A. Kershaw and Cindy, Elizabeth A. Elam and Kevin, Christopher W. Kershaw and Julie, all of Vandalia, and Patrick I. Kershaw and Wendy, Brownstown; 11 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; Brother – Cecil R. Kershaw & Nancy, Coffeen.
