Rotarian Pat Click invited Sydney Goldberg, President of Goldberg Group Architects, the firm hired by Fayette County Board as his February 11, 2025 program. Sydney reviewed the pressing problems at the current courthouse and jail which include basement flooding, not enough restrooms, mold, plumbing problems, a confusing and unsafe jail layout, 76 detainee beds originally designed for 34, and an 186 year old building trying to serve the county’s needs in 2025 and beyond. Sydney offered possible solutions to the problems and the resultant proposal for a new Government Center at a new site. The architects and Fayette County Board Members distributed a set of leaflets with scaled drawings and pictures showing the problems at the current buildings. Then, they explained the possible location and cost for the new Center and the plan to raise the money.
