Nokomis Couple Celebrate 65th Wedding Anniversary

Edmund and Genevieve Hill will celebrate their 65th
anniversary on Thursday, February 6th.
The couple married on February 6, 1960, at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Lawler officiating. The Hills married five years after their first date on Feb. 6, 1955, shortly after Mr. Hill returned home from serving in the Korean War with the United States Army. Melvin Huber, brother-in-law of the groom; David Hill, brother of the groom; Ellen Snyder, sister of the bride; and Linda Barringer, best friend of the bride, were witnesses at the ceremony.
Mr. Hill is the son of Orville and Goldie Hill. He worked as a farmer until recently retiring and is the Pastor of Bayle City Baptist Church where he has served for 60 years. Genevieve is the daughter of Lester and Mercy Compton. She has been a homemaker as well as working beside her husband on the farm and in the church.
The Hills are blessed with three children, Charlene
(Richard) Swanner of Melbourne Beach, FL, Ronald (Tina) Hill of Fillmore, IL, and Donald (Nancy) Hill of Nokomis, IL. The Hills are also the proud grandparents of 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
