Park Supervisor Kent Torbeck reported that the north driveway on Locust Street, which was scheduled to be completed by Richland Improvement, had been delayed due to the rain.
Airport/Insurance Co-Chair Matt Murphy said that the restriping of the runway at the Vandalia Airport is scheduled potentially for next summer when the runway is resurfaced. He also indicated that the airport’s liability insurance policies had been renewed.
Baseball/Soccer Chair Steve Hawkins said that the baseball practice shed is still being used and the backdrop issue for visibility will be revisited nearer to spring.
Pool/Pavilions Manager Lisa Robbins reported that she had purchased and strung Christmas lights around the pool. Robbins is still waiting to hear about any decisions on the OSLAD Grant. She hopes to add more chairs to the pool and some small tables. Replacement or repair of the pool slide was also discussed.
In New Business the Board approved purchase of a “new” maintenance truck for the park. It is a 2015 basic model truck with about 16,000 miles and is being purchased from Hecht Chevrolet for $27,335.
The next Vandalia Park Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 4 p.m. in the meeting room at Evans Public Library. The Public is welcome to attend.
