Dedication Ceremony For New Memorial Park Scheduled

The City of Vandalia and Vandalia American Legion Post 95 are excited to announce the dedication ceremony for the new Veterans Memorial Park, located in Downtown Vandalia on Monday, November 11, 2024 at 10:30am.
Speakers of the event will include State Senator Jason Plummer, State Representative Blaine Wilhour, Mayor Ricky J. Gottman and Vandalia American Legion Post 95 Commander Bruce Braswell.
Gottman states, “With the sale of the American Legion property, we have worked together to bring a new and improved Veterans Memorial Park to Vandalia. This park will have a granite etched memorial wall, as well as flag poles for the American Flag and one for each branch of the service. Future plans will include a pavilion and a mural from the Beautification Committee of Vandalia.” He further stated, “this has been in the works since the closure and it brings great joy to all involved to have the dedication ceremony on Veterans Day.”
