Gary A. Swofford, 84, of Brownstown, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at SBL Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Graveside services were held Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Griffith Cemetery, Rural Brownstown. Burial immediately followed. Online memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.millerfh.net.
He was born November 22, 1939, in Pittsburg, IL, the son of Raymond and Daisy (Meyer) Swofford. He married Pattie Ann Brown on November 18, 1966, in Ramsey. She passed away on April 18, 2022. He was retired from the Vandalia Correctional Center, and he served his country as a military policeman for the United States Army.
He is survived by: Son – Bart Swofford, Brownstown, IL; Granddaughter – Cheyanne Mazander, Herrick, IL; Great Grandchildren – Hadrian Cox, Jensen Mazander, and Katyrina Mazander; Brothers – Terry, Monty, and Tim Swofford; Sisters – Linda Martin, Kay Seaton, Debbie Brewer, Theresa Durbin, and Hazel Vohlken.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Wife; and Sister – Vicki Bast.
