Vandalia Board Of Education Meeting Held

After the presentation of the Vandalia Community Unit District #203 Amended Budget on June 20 in the scheduled Budget hearing, the regular Board meeting welcomed Shawn Bergman of Vela Institute. Vela is a non-profit that focuses on research and development of leadership which includes the components of setting a vision, empowering individuals, and developing skills for teachers, staff, and administration in education.
In the Action Items portion of the meeting, the following financial business items were approved:

• FY24 VCUSD Amended Budget,
• FY24 OKAW Budget,
• OKAW Construction Conclusion
• FY25 Property/Casualty/Liability Insurance Renewals,
• FY24 VCUSD #203 Audit Engagement Letter,
• FY24 OKAW Area Vocational Center Audit Engagement Letter, and
• Pay increase of 1% for Building Level Administrators who are not in the regular pay pipeline.
All of the changes in personnel were approved:
• District Resignations – Keely Smith-VCHS PE/Health Teacher,
• District Transfers – Dana Kern from JH Health Teacher to VCHS PE/Health Teacher, Rachelle Hosick from Pre-K/ECE to 5th Grade, Carrie Whitten from 5th Grade to 6th Grade ELA, Brittany Anspach-Hawkins from Teacher Aide to 5th Grade Teacher, and
• District Employment – Jade Warren-PreK/ECE Teacher, Holly Cunningham-VJHS Health Teacher, Pam LeDuc-VJHS 3 days/week, Keli Ritchey-VES Paraprofessional, Julie Kershaw- VES Paraprofessional, and Kari Kesterson- VES Paraprofessional.
The next regular Board meeting is Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 6 p.m. in the Administration Board Room. The public is welcome to attend.
