Lady Vandals have a lot of fun, win or lose
“It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it’s how you play the game.”
Grantland Rice
No team exemplifies that quote more than this year’s version of the Vandalia Lady Vandals softball team.
A loud celebration ensued after the Lady Vandals picked up their first win of the season, following 22 losses.
But then, it was hard to tell during many of those 22 losses that the Lady Vandals were losing or had lost.
That’s because the girls were often loudly cheering during those losses, whether it be for celebrating teammate’s first hit or someone catching a fly ball.
Yes, there was a celebration for every little success throughout the season.
“I have had so much fun this year!,” Lady Vandals coach Elizabeth Mills said when commenting on a Facebook post.
“I know they have, too!”
That was obvious by watching them play.
How refreshing it has been to see members of the team getting so much enjoyment from simply playing the game.
That’s why it was so exciting to see them rewarded with a win last week.
