Vandalia Junior High Holds Book Signing for Student
Vandalia Junior High School hosted a book signing by one of its own students this past Friday, March 15. Student Amalie Weihrauch signed copies of her book “A Siren’s Destiny” for the public at the VJHS library from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. A Siren’s Destiny is a story about a teenage girl who at first is lost and fells like she will never accomplish anything great in her life, but she was wrong! She gets kidnapped, discovers a lost family, a hidden romance, a new power and a sense of courage she didn’t know she had. She discovers a prophecy that threatens her sanity and the city’s safety. What mught this young siren’s destiny be? You will have to grab a copy of Amalie’s book and find out for yourself!
Sitting down with Amalie, she explained how she came up with the idea for the book. “So, I first started writing the book, it was New Year’s Eve and my family and I just finished watching the “Wednesday” series. There are sirens in the show and I told my parents if I were to be any mythological creature, it would be a siren. I just felt really inspired to write a book about it.”
When asked if there would be more books to follow, Amalie answered, “Yes. I am almost on book three of the series. It will be a 12 book series.”
Miss Weihrauch offered up advice for young writters who have stories they would like to pen, “Just do it. People like to say, “I can’t write a book, I just can’t do it.” Just take whatever you want to tell a story about and write it down, then keep going. A Google doc, piece of paper, anything, just write it down. Anyone can write, it’s just, you have to write about something you love.” The Siren’s Destiny can be found on Amazon.
