Loretta E. Keagle, 79, of Vandalia, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at SBL Fayette County Hospital ER.

 A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 22, 2024 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Joe Lawson officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 -11:00 AM, Monday, at the funeral home. Cremation Rites will be accorded following services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bond County Memorial V.F.W. Post # 1377 Ladies Auxiliary or to the Women of the Moose, Post #1447. Loretta Elaine Plowman was born on August 07, 1944 in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Ralph and Mary “Evelyn” (Hoover) Plowman.

She married William Leroy Keagle on April 11, 1987. Together they shared 36 years of marriage.
Loretta retired from the United States Department of Agriculture after 22 years of employment at the US Consolidated Farm Services Agency in Joliet. She was a former president and lifelong member of the Vandalia VFW Post #3862 Ladies Auxiliary. After its closure, she joined the Bond County Memorial V.F.W. Post # 1377 Ladies Auxiliary in Greenville. Loretta was also a member of Vandalia Moose Lodge Post # 1447. She was quite the homebody and cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Mrs. Keagle is survived by her husband William “Bill” Keagle of Vandalia; son, Brad Stokes and wife Allison of Carlyle; son, Robert Stokes Sr. and wife Laura of Belleville; step-son, Bill Keagle and wife Kathy of Joliet; 5 grandchildren, David Stokes, Stephen Tiebel, Robert Stokes Jr., Veronica Stokes, and Steven Stokes; 8 great-grandchildren, Kayda McNeeley, Wyatt McNeeley, Nora Stokes, Robert Stokes Jr., Isabella Stokes, Grayson Prince, Hunter Stokes, and Ava Stokes.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
