Jill Diekroeger, 91,

On January 3, 2024, Jill Diekroeger went to be with her heavenly father peacefully at home at the age of 91.

Jill was born on September 25, 1932, in Kirkwood, Missouri.  She is preceded in death by parents Elmer and Loretta Meyer, her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Tom Diekroeger; son, Tom Diekroeger Jr.; great grandson, Jack Feistel; and brothers, Jim and Jack Meyer.

She is survived by her children, Kurt (Leigh Anne), Kevin (Karen), Kim Schroeder (Kevin), Craig (Amy); daughter in law, Sheri; grandchildren, Erica, Thomas, Katie, Melissa, Christian, Alexandra, Alec, Cameron, Caleb; and 10 great grandchildren.

Jill attended High School in Kirkwood and college at the University of Missouri. She taught elementary school in Gerald, Missouri and middle school in Vandalia, Illinois.

She was member of First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed being in the choir for many years. She loved spending time with her family, playing bridge with her friends, spending time at the family farm and reading a good book. She was a passionate reader and kept the Vandalia library staff very busy. Some of her other passions were fishing and swimming.

She volunteered at Habitat for the Humanity Store, the Vandalia Hospital and for Meals on Wheels. Jill touched the lives of many with her compassion.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made to the Vandalia Library or the First Presbyterian Church, Vandalia, IL.
