Gustav V. G. “Gus” Pollock, 83, Brownstown

Gustav Vincent Gordon Pollock, 83, of Brownstown, Illinois, born August 15, 1940, in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed away, October 25, 2023, at home surrounded by family.

Gus proudly served his country in the United States Navy.  He was a member of the American Legion in Brownstown, Illinois.  He also served as a Brownstown’s Village Trustee and was also a Park Board member.  He developed an area youth soccer program and the first Brownstown travel soccer team.  He earned his BA/MA in English and Literature from Southern Illinois University -Edwardsville and loved literature and poetry.  Gus also enjoyed astronomy, traveling, baseball and community involvement.  He was a devoted husband and especially loved spending time with his family.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren G. and Rosemary C., nee Lentz, Pollock, his siblings, Warren Pollock, Jr., Gordon T. Pollock, and George Pollock.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Linda Joyce Pollock, nee Wilson; his two sons, Michael Pollock, of Oro Valley, Arizona and Daniel (Araceli) Pollock, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; his granddaughters, Brianna Pollock, of Bedford, Texas and Katelyn Pollock, of St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters, Carol Ann Hurley, Mary Ellen (Dennis) Bauer, and Roseann Georgette (Louie) Vasquez; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2023, at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, Illinois.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2023, at Irwin Chapel, Glen Carbon, Illinois.  Inurnment will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri with Navy Honors presiding.
