Jerry A. Koonce, 71, of Olney, IL, passed away at 3:22AM, Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Helia Healthcare of Olney.

Jerry Allen Koonce was born on August 03, 1951 in Vandalia, IL, the son of James Woodrow and Catherine Lavonne (Hopkins) Koonce. He was a proud United States Army Veteran. Jerry was multi-faceted; working various occupations throughout the years. He was a former diesel mechanic as well as a high-pressure welder, among many others. Recently, he began catching up on his Westerns and figuring out all of the joys of Facebook and new technology. He forever cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

Jerry is survived by his sons, Joshua Koonce of Charleston and Michael Koonce & Melissa of Vandalia; step-son, Shawn Bishop & Wendi of FL; siblings, Mary Warner of Vera, Beverly & Kenneth Walton of Vandalia, Jimmy Koonce & Patti of Decatur, Phyllis Powers of Decatur, Patty & Torney Carter of Vandalia, and Douglas Koonce & Cindy of Mulberry Grove; grandchildren, Tessa, Ethan, Sara, Katelynn, Tyler, Taylor, Madison, Taylor, Anthony, and Shelby.

Mr. Koonce was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Lela Jo and Peggy.
