Christopher Lee Handegan was born November 19, 1984, the son of William and Debra (Tippie) Handegan. Chris attended school in Vandalia, graduating with the class of 2004. He went on to work for District Council #2 Painters Local 1156. He had several certifications through the Society for Protective Coatings (SSPC), for painting, which he did from one side of the United States to the other; C3, C7, C12, CAS. Chris also had a certification to spray and operate plural component equipment.
Chris was known to be a hard-working man. Not only did he have a full-time job, but ran Handegan Lawn Care with his brother, Josh. Chris was also part of the pit crew for Cody Clark, Tristan Horst, and BJ Deal; working on their cars. Among his many projects, he still managed to chop and sell firewood. Chris was a member of the Illinois Federation for Outdoor Resources (IFOR), enjoyed working on his 1975 Chevy Nova and go-carts, and loved fishing.
Chris always made time to volunteer and donate to local organizations; he was The Grinch at Olde Tyme Christmas in downtown Vandalia and donated to Shop with a Cop in Fayette County. He loved his friends and spending time with them and his family. He was quirky, hilarious, caring, giving, and had a smile that would light up a room.
Chris will be greatly missed by his mother, Debra Handegan; sister, Lacey (Josh Jackson) Handegan; brothers, Joshua Handegan, Allen (Catelyn) Handegan, Billy (Rita) Handegan, Brandon (Gessica) Handegan; grandmother, Freda Tippie; nephews and nieces, Greyson, Ryker, Haliey, Braxton, Harley, Jonathan, and Amber; his fur baby, Raven; and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Handegan.
