Donald E. Dothager, 85 of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Services was held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Crown Point Church, Rural Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Pete LeDuc officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor Cemetery, Rural Vandalia, IL. Visitation was held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, February 6, 2023, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, and 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials: Taylor Cemetery and/or Crown Point Church. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. Don was born October 2, 1937 the son of Lester Frederick & Lydia Marie (Kern) Dothager in Bond County, IL. He married Judith A. Crane on June 8, 1957 in Vandalia, IL. He was a retired auto teamster, hauling cars for Ryder and Allied Trucking. Don also worked at the coal mine in Coffeen all while farming the family farm. Don was affiliated with the Crown Point Church, Rural Vandalia, IL and was a Member of Temperance Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M.

He is survived by: Wife – Judy Dothager, Vandalia, IL; 2 Sons – Kenneth Dothager & Shelley, Vandalia, IL and Eric Dothager & Cathy, Vandalia, IL; 2 Granddaughters – Makenna and Aubrey; Brother – Gerald Dothager, Smithboro, IL.

Preceded in death by: Parents and 1 sister, Linda Elam.
