Wilna D. McDonald, 98, of Centralia, IL, passed away at 10:11 PM, Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Centralia Manor.

Per Wilna’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. There will be no services held at this time. Interment will take place at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL, at a later date. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to St. James Cemetery or to Brownstown V.F.W. Post # 9770. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com.

Wilna Diveley McDonald was born on June 19, 1924 in Sefton Township, Fayette County, IL, the daughter of Edward Rolland and Virginia (Burrus) Diveley. Formerly married to Patrick McDonald; he preceded in death.

Mrs. McDonald graduated from Brownstown Community High School in the class of 1942. Shortly after that, she obtained a position as a typist with the U. S. Treasury Department in Washington D.C. She worked in the Internal Revenue Service for 30 years then transferred to the U.S. Customs Service for another seven years as a legal secretary. After retiring, she returned to Vandalia, IL.

Wilna enjoyed her employment in the Treasury Department, her frequent trips throughout the United States, and visiting many foreign countries.

She is survived by her niece, Karleen Stein Wareham of Harpers Ferry, WV; niece, Janet Stein of Baltimore, MD; niece, Diana Stein Ermenc and husband Andrew of Hendersonville, TN; great niece, Bonnie Parnell; great nephews, Ryan Ermenc, Glenn Corcoran, and Chris Corcoran.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dorothy Diveley Stein and Rosa Dellaphine Diveley; an infant sister; and nephew, Philip Stein.

Mrs. McDonald would like to thank the Centralia Manor administrative staff, doctors, nurses, and care-giving staff that provided care and support in the later years of her life; she would also like to thank Carolyn Lashbrook of Centralia, IL “for the many kindnesses that she has shown me”
