Jerry Keith Beabout, 80, of Aurora, CO passed away peacefully on September 17, 2022 at Aurora Medical Center with the assistance of The Denver Hospice.
A service in his memory will be held at 1:30pm on October 17 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 4500 E. Hampden Ave, Cherry Hills Village, CO 80113. An additional celebration will be held in Vandalia, IL at a future date and time to be determined.
Jerry Keith Beabout was born December 3, 1941 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia, IL, the son of Morris and Ruth (Shaw) Beabout. He graduated from Vandalia High School in 1959 and Monmouth College, Monmouth, IL with a B.A. in 1963. Jerry married Joyce Moeller on June 20, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church in Deerfield, IL.
While in Vandalia, the Beabout family were members of St. James Lutheran Church. Jerry was an owner in Beabout Oil Company, Vandalia, IL. He also worked for Crawford, Lefevre and Zeman Law firm, Vandalia, IL, Owens Brockway Plastics, Vandalia, IL and Gateway Packing, Granite City, IL.
Jerry dedicated 25 years to the Vandalia Volunteer Fire Department, eight years as Chief. He was a member of a number of community organizations including the Vandalia Jaycees, Vandalia Masonic Lodge, and Vandalia Rotary Club.
In Colorado, Jerry enjoyed community at Bethany Lutheran Church and Aurora Rotary International.
He enjoyed farming, history, travel in the US and abroad, and time with his family. Always the first to help a friend, Jerry Beabout modeled hard work and service to the community. He filled our lives with his intellect, integrity, and focused energy. He is a splendid example of a life well lived. He was a hero, husband, father and friend.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of Aurora, CO, his daughters, Diana and Jeri-Sue, grandsons, Justin and Matthew of Centennial, CO, sister, Betty Boehm of Madison, NJ, brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Cheryl Beabout of Branson, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Jerry Beabout to Bethany Lutheran Church (Cherry Hills, CO), St. James Lutheran Church (Vandalia, IL) or a service-oriented organization of the donor’s choice.
