Patricia Marie “Pat” Gathe, 88, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Private Family Services will be held Friday, September 2, 2022 at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL, with Pastor Ed Stephens officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL. Memorials: Independent Accountants Association of Illinois Scholarship Fund. Pat was born Sunday, August 19, 1934, in Vandalia, IL, the daughter of Russell L. & Alvina Marie (Fredrick) Murphy. She married Kenneth Raymond Gathe on August 12, 1951, Jackson, MS, Kenneth passed away on January 6, 2012. Pat founded the Gathe’s Tax and Accounting Services, Inc. in 1979 and retired after doing taxes for more than 50 years. She was a lifetime member of the Independent Accountants Association of Illinois serving on the associations board of directors in many capacities including state president. Pat loved traveling, fishing and most of all family.

Pat is survived by: Son – Karl Gathe, Vandalia, IL; Daughters – Teena Yarbrough Tammy Gathe, both Vandalia, IL; Tricia Grandt & Brad, Shobonier, IL; Amy Pyle & Bubba, Seymour, TN; Dau-in-laws – Angie Gathe, Vernon, IL and Suzanne Gathe, Seymour, TN; 16 Grandchildren and 24 Great Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: Parents; Husband; 3 Sons – David, Dudley and Ted; Brother – Russell Murphy; Sister – Mary Helton; and Grandchildren – Anthony & Payge.
