Infant Jocelyn Karter Barnett of Vandalia passed away at 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, at Bost Hill Cemetery in Irving with the Rev. Mike Plummer, pastor of Fillmore Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia is assisting family.
She was born on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at HSHS SBL Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia, at 10:30 a.m. to Brianna Barnett of Vandalia and Devon Mercer of Bingham.
In addition to her parents, Jocelyn is survived by brothers Brian Scott Holmes of Shelbyville and Karson Layne Barnett of Vandalia.
Maternal grandparents, Casey Miller of Vandalia and John Barnett of Shelbyville; maternal great-grandparents, Cindy Miller of Sandoval, Don Blanchard of Sandoval and Kathy Schmiz of Granite City; and great grandmother, Melba Miller of Fillmore.
Paternal grandparents, Anita Beck of Bingham and Joe Mercer of Shelbyville; paternal great-grandparents, Vanessa Williams and Bernard Beck, both of Bingham, and Karen Vadmir of Taylorville; many uncles and cousins; and numerous great-aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandfather Harold Barnett, her maternal great-great-grandmother Ada Gipson, great-great-grandfather Roy Blanchard; and great-great-grandfather Leonard Miller.
