Betty A. Fifer, 85, Vandalia

Betty A. Fifer of Vandalia passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Fayette County Hospital surrounded by family. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Mound Baptist Church.

Betty was born January 13, 1937, in Vandalia to Hillard and Maggie (Cripe) Heather. She retired from Fair Oaks Nursing Home where she held many positions. She was a member of the Pleasant Mound Baptist Church, liked watching birds and gardening mostly flowers.

Surviving are sons Melvin (Rick) Thacker, Edward (Craig) Grandfield, Bradley Fifer and daughter Mary Ann Smith; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd; 2 sons Rocky Thacker and Randy Morrison; sisters Farrell Collier, Mildred Siebert, Roxie Stubbs, Evedne Sanders and June Miller; brothers Dewitt, Merle (Pete) and Harold (Bood) Heather; and a son-in-law, Brad Smith.
