City Career Fair set for April 29

A lot of people in the area are looking for good jobs, and a lot of the local businesses and industries are looking for employees.
An event is being held at the end of next month to bring those two groups together.
The Vandalia Career Fair Planning Committee last week announced plans for a city Career Fair.
The event will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, April 29, at the Kaskaskia College Vandalia Center on West Fillmore Street.
Last week’s announcement served as an invitation for local businesses and industries to be on display at the career fair.
The goal of the planning committee is to have 50 businesses from Vandalia and Fayette County to register for the event.
In addition to allowing businesses and potential employers to hook up, the career fair will offer a 30-minute presentation from Heidi Cade of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Program.
Thirty minutes before the start of the career fair, Cade will present a class on resumé writing, cover letter writing and interviewing skills.
During the fair, a space will be available for businesses to conduct interviews with potential employees.
The city, Greater Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and Kaskaskia College will offer three main door prizes for the career fair.
Participants are the career fair are being encouraged to offer give-aways and/or door prizes.
The planning committee is asking local businesses and industries to submit by April 14 registration forms that have been mailed to them, with registrations to be emailed to City Administrator LaTisha Paslay at; mailed to city hall, 431 W. Gallatin St.; or dropped off at city hall.
