Ronald L. Harmeier, 80, Shobonier

Ronald L. Harmeier, 80, of Shobonier, passed away at 8:08 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022, at SBL Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care, with his loving wife by his side.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Shobonier, with Pastor Timothy Landskroener officiating. Interment will follow at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9-11 a.m., on Saturday, at the church. Memorials: Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Ronald Lorenz Harmeier was born at home in Shobonier on Jan. 24, 1942, the son of Alfred F. and Frieda L. (Lorenz) Harmeier. He married Deborah K. Griffin on Jan. 1, 1966; together, they celebrated 56 years of marriage and raised two daughters.
Ron was a proud U.S. Army veteran. After his service, he returned home to the family farm, where he was a lifelong farmer and eventually the owner/operator of Harmeier Farms Inc. When he found the time to get away from the farm, he loved nothing more than to go fishing and spend time with his family. He was a member of Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Mr. Harmeier is survived by his wife; daughters, Dana and husband Rick Myers of Vandalia, and Angela Weir of Fort Mill, S.C.; grandchildren, Holly and husband Brandon Roach of Roanoke, Texas, Heidi Goldsmith of Pineville, La., Audrey Myers of East Lansing, Mich., and Andrew Myers of Vandalia; and sisters-in-law, Norma Harmeier of Decatur and Shirley Harmeier of St. Peter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert A. Harmeier and Wesley H. Harmeier; and sister, Shirley Mae and husband James Cheshier.
