Glen Franklin Hazenfield, 90, of Loveland, CO

Glen Franklin Hazenfield, 90, of Loveland, CO, and for 49 years of Ozark, AL, peacefully passed away after a brief illness on Wedensday, Dec. 15, 2021.  Mr. Hazenfield was surrounded by members of his family as he was called Home to his eternal rest.

He was born on October 28, 1931 in his family home on the Hazenfield Family Farm in rural Fayette County.  He began farming alongside his father at the age of 8 until he enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951. He married Nancy Lipscomb of Brownstown, in 1952 and during his Air Force career, the family embraced the opportunities and inspiration from each assignment across the United States and around the world. He retired from the Air Force in 1972 and moved to Ozark, AL where he worked in Army Aviation at Ft. Rucker, retiring in 1993 as the Supervisor of Training Instructors in the Air Traffic Control School.

Mr. Hazenfield was an active and life-long Master Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Masons.  He received his 65-year pin in 2017 and served as Chaplain for Masonic Lodge #908 for more than 40 years. As a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark, he served on the administrative board and as an usher.  He shared his passion for music by lifting his voice in praise with the choir and his beloved Royal Heirs quartet (sometimes quintet).

He often said that his greatest joy was working alongside his son, Mike, during four yearly trips from 1998 until 2014 tending to their 155-year-old Hazenfield Family Farm. He openly welcomed anyone he met with his gracious friendship and ministry and has left a lasting and loving legacy on everyone he touched.

Mr. Hazenfield was preceded in death by his infant son, Mark Edward; his wives, Nancy Lipscomb Hazenfield and Rejina Owens Barclift Hazenfield; his parents, Frank and Coral Hazenfield, and his older sister, Farrol Hazenfield Philbrook. He is survived by his sister, Dorie Hazenfield Donofrie (Doug) of Wausaukee, WI; his brother-in-law, Edwin Philbrook of Decatur; his sister-in-law, Keydoll Lipscomb Hoffmire (Carl) of Morton; his three children, Mike (Suzanne) of Timnath, CO; Susan Hazenfield Fernandez (Manny) of Fairfax Station, VA; and Leslie Hazenfield of Apopka, FL; his grandson, Dr. Kurt Hazenfield (Rachel) and great-grandchildren, Jackson and Bennett Ruth, of Ft. Collins, CO; his step-daughter, Janet Barclift Cobia (Gary) of Pelham, Alabama; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; his brother in Christ, Mike Porterfield of Ozark, AL; and his Hillcrest family in Loveland, CO.

Memorial services and his burial (Zion Cemetery at the Hazenfield Family Farm) will be scheduled for later dates. Memorials may be sent to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, https://lovetotherescue.org/, or to the Scottish Rite Foundation of Alabama, https://alsrlcenter.org/.
