Caroline Reid Frye, 96, of Fort Collins, CO passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021.

Born to Joseph and Edith Reid March 16, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY, she led an adventurous life full of travel, family, friends, and a commitment to the public good. The daughter of a Naval officer, she spent childhood in Alaska, the Philippines, and China.

She graduated from University of Maryland at the age of 19 and went to work for the war department. She married Bruce Frye on September 8, 1945. In 1953, the family moved to Fort Collins, where Bruce was a professor of history at CO A&M. She helped establish the League of Women Voters in Fort Collins and was on the United Way Board of Directors and worked for CSU’s Office of Conferences and Institutes. She loved travel, the arts, sports, playing bridge, poker and golf.

Her husband Bruce died in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents and siblings Joan and Joseph. Caroline is survived by her three children, Susan Frye (Fred Synnestvedt) of Laramie, WY, Thomas Frye (Laura) of Ramah, NM, and Bradford Frye (Diane) of Vandalia; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family plans to hold a summer memorial service in celebration of her life.
