Old Illinois Route 140 closed by IDOT on Monday to repair bridge
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that the closure of Old Illinois 140 (County Road 1250 N) at the bridge over Hurricane Creek, about 1 mile southeast of U.S. 40, begins Oct. 4.
The closure is necessary to complete bridge repairs, including deck patching and joint replacements. The repairs will improve the safety of the bridge and provide motorists with a smoother driving surface. A detour using U.S. 40 will be posted. Work is expected to be complete by the end of November.
Only local traffic will be permitted on Old Illinois 140 between U.S. 40 and County Road 100 E during the bridge repairs. Motorists are encouraged to follow the posted detour and should allow for extra travel time. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
