Leona Elizabeth Davis, 91, of Sherman

Leona Elizabeth Davis, 91, of Sherman, died at 5:57 a.m. on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Villa Health Care East.

Leona was born on May 1, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of Leon and Lila Mae (Simmons) Roper. She married George H. Davis on February 28, 1953, in Carbondale. He preceded her in death on September 18, 2007.

Leona had a bachelor’s degree in Education from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She served in ministry with her husband for over 45 years.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert “Bob” Roper; and sisters, Virginia Roper, and Barbara Tabert.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Shelley) Davis of Princeville, Jim (Lisa) Davis of Melbourne, FL, and Mike (Angela) Davis of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Jane McGee of Springfield; grandchildren, Cody (Heather) Ehrhart, Brittany (Brad Plack) Cashdollar, Lindsay (Nathan) Wineinger, Kelsey (Justin) King, Clayton (Ashley) Davis, Kyle Damron, Clint Damron, Tyler (Alisyn) Davis, Jenna Davis, and Lauren Davis; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Springfield Southern Baptist Church, 225 N. Grand Ave. East, Springfield, IL. A Funeral Ceremony will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Doug Morrow officiating.

Graveside Ceremony will be at 4p.m. on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Patoka Cemetery in Patoka.
