Springfield man drowns while ‘noodling’ Sunday

A 20-year-old Springfield man is dead following a drowning incident Sunday evening, June 20.
Logan Fornof was pronounced dead at Fayette County Hospital at 7:26 p.m., Sunday night, by Coroner David Harris, according to the coroner.
According to Harris’ report, Fornof and friends were participating in “hogging,” or “noodling” for catfish in the Kaskaskia River south of Vandalia, when Fornof dove into a hollow log under the water and did not resurface. His friends recovered Fornof, called 911 and performed CPR.
Fornof was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
