Nancy Kay Wood, 80, of Vandalia, passed away at 7:14 a.m., Friday, June 11, 2021 at Willowbrook Memory Care in Vandalia.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Rev. Bruce Sasse officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Willowbrook Memory Care or Fayette County Hospice. Mrs. Wood was born on April 15, 1941 in Independence, MO, the daughter of Thomas and Ann (Watts) Crick. She married James W. Wood on March 9, 1962; together they shared nearly 55 years of marriage before his passing on December 15, 2016.
While living in Arizona, Nancy was employed by Cigna Health Care where she was an administrator over nurse and medical records. She was also a self-employed accountant; partnering with “Expert Tax and Accounting”.
Nancy was strong in her Christian faith; studying the bible in her spare time and even taking courses to further her knowledge. She had an avid love for gardening, fishing, and holding and loving her great-grandchildren. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a former volunteer for Fayette County Hospice.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy and husband, Mike Morgason of Vandalia; son, James Wood of Arizona; brother, John Crick and wife, Shirley of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Daylin Ward, Brandon Ward, Garett Carroll, Stephanie Carroll, Dalan Morgason, Jesse Morgason, Emma Morgason, Jaye Wood, and Josh Wood; and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Bobby Crick; and sisters, Betty Ann Goeking, Margaret Allen, and Lillian Alumbaugh.
