The eighth grade Lady Vandals ended their season last weekend in the finals of the regional championship, playing Newton on their home floor Tuesay evening, March 16. They bowe out on the year with a very respectable 11-3 record. The ladies defeated Teutopolis in the semifinals here the prior Saturday.
Vs. Newton
When the number two ranked team plays the number one, it’s going to be a good match, and the Vandals and the Eagles did not disappoint. Newton took the match in two, 25-19, 25-19.
Sophia Krueger had 2 aces in the match and Bella Austin had 1.
Austin also had 5 kills in the contest, followed by Livi Wehrle with 3; Sadie Smith and Sophie Bowers each with 2, and Sophia Krueger with 1.
Austin also had two blocks in the match.
vs. T’town
The Lady Vandals easily dispatched Teutopolis in the semifinals here on Saturday, March 9.
While easily putting the Shoes away in the first game of the match, the Vandals put down a scrappy T’town crew in the second game.
Laney Dunn had 4 aces in the match. Austin had 3 and Gracie Craig had 2.
Austin had 4 kills on the day, with Wehrle having 3; Drueger, 2 and Bowers, Smith, and Craig each with one.
Austinhad a block in the contest.
