Junior High Vandals play well this week with two wins

The Junior High Vandals had a good week, taking two of three contests in each the seventh and eighth grades.
Vs. Altamont
Both teams won Saturday, March 6 as the Altamont Indians traveled to town.
For the seventh grade, Kohner Depew led the Vandals to the victory, tallying 26 of the teams’ 55 points in the contest. The game wasn’t close as Vandalia won, 55-19.
Brenton McCarty followed with 12 points, Kooper Campbell, 7, and Reece Berry with 5.
The seventh grade record now stands at 10-2.
The eighth grade also took their contests with an impressive margin, 44-19.
Jacob Johnson scored 17 points and had 4 rebounds in the contest, followed by Wade Brannon with 16 points and also 4 rebounds.
The eighth grade record stands at 5-7.
Vs. St. Pats
Both teams suffered a loss in close games with Pana St. Pats on Thursday, March 4.
For the seventh grade, Vandalia lost 48-40.
Depew led his team with 14 points and 19 rebounds. He was followed by McCarty with 9 points; Bryce Hartlieb had 7 points with 6 rebounds, Bock Willenborg had 6 points, Jack Lewis had 3, and Campbell had 1.
The difference in the eighth grade game was one bucket, as St. Pat’s won 35-33.
Kolten Stout had 11 points in the game along with 7 rebounds. Next was Brannon with 10 points. Ian Whitehead had 6 points and five rebounds; Johnson had 4 points and Jay Davison-Keck had 2.
Vs. Hillsboro
In going up against the Hillsboro Hilltoppers on Tuesday, March 2, the seventh grade game was a runaway, while the eighth grade had a closer contest.
Depew again led all scorers with 23 points and 5 rebounds and Campbell chipped in 7 points. Lewis and McCarty had 4 each and Forbes had one bucket for the contest.
The eighth grade game was a tighter one, although the home team came up the victor, 35-31.
Brannon led all scorers with 20 points, followed by Ian Whitehead with 8 points and 6 rebounds; Isaac Sachan had 4 points and 4 steals in the contest; Stout had 2 points and 5 rebounds and Johnson chipped in 1.
