Dec. 31
• At 10:27 p.m., police arrested Donald R. Roberts, 36, of Vandalia, on warrants from Fayette and Bond counties, and on charges of improper turn signal, driving 50 mph in a 30-mph zone, disobeying a stop sign, driving while his license is revoked, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, driving 53 mph in a 25-mph zone, driving 65 mph in a 30-mph zone, improper lane usage, fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving, criminal trespass to a residence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic syringe, violation of probation, bringing contraband into a penal institution and violating a city ordinance for possession of drug paraphernalia. On Jan. 1, individuals filed with police a report of vehicle theft. Police said that the vehicle is the one that Roberts was driving when they arrested him the previous night.
• Officers assisted authorities from Clinton and Marion counties and the Carlyle Police Department who were in pursuit of a vehicle headed north on U.S. Route 51, setting up a roadblock at the U.S. Route 40 intersection. The vehicle stopped just before the roadblock, and two females in the vehicle were arrested.

• An officer responded to the area of First and Edwards streets for a report of a suspicious person in the area. An officer found the individual at Circle K and gave him a ride home.
• Police responded at 2:56 p.m. to the 1900 block of West Fillmore for a complaint of a barking dog. An officer contacted the owners and notified them of the complaint.
• Police responded at 8:22 a.m. to the area of Eighth and Randolph streets for a report of a reckless driver. An officer was unable to find the vehicle.
• An officer took a report at 2:28 p.m. of theft from a customer at Walmart. A short time later, the customer’s property was returned.
• Police responded at 2:56 p.m. to the 1400 block of West St. Louis Avenue for a report of possible animal neglect. Animal control was contacted.
• Police received at 9:30 p.m. a complaint of a child custody issue. No further information was given.
• Officers responded to three calls for citizen/motorist assistance.

• Officers responded to eight calls for citizen/motorist assistance.
Dec. 26
• Officers responded at 7:58 p.m. to the area of Second and Gallatin streets for a report of a disorderly individual. Officers found the individual and was advised that he was trespassing from Circle K.
• Police took a complaint at 6:23 p.m. of a child custody issue. No further information was given.
• Police responded at 8:32 p.m. to the area of Veterans Avenue and Eighth Street for a report of a reckless driver. An officer found the vehicle and issued a verbal warning to the driver.
• Officers responded at 9:01 p.m. to the 100 block of West Main Street for a report of a domestic problem. The situation was resolved without incident.
• Officers responded to three calls for citizen/motorist assistance.
