St. Elmo Schools set registration

Registration days for St. Elmo Jr.-Sr. High School and Elementary School will be:
• Aug. 1 – 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Aug. 2 – 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Aug. 1 – 6-8 p.m. – Seventh-grade orientation/registration for all seventh-grade students and parents.
All students, including those new to the district and district students who attend classes in Vandalia, should register at that time.
Junior-senior high students enrolled in physical education classes are required to wear P.E. uniforms. Uniforms can be purchased at registration for $10.
School-time accident insurance coverage is provided at no cost to the students by the St. Elmo School District. Twenty-four-hour accident coverage is available at an additional cost.
No student will be allowed to take a driver’s education class unless the $50 fee is paid. Students owing outstanding fees from the previous year will be required to pay those fees at registration.
Registration fees are:
• K-8 – $40 book rental.
• 9-12 – $45 book rental; $10 towel and lock fee; and $8 for student handbook.
• Lab fees: junior high science, $10; general business, $10; physicial science, $10; computers I & II, $10; biology I, $10; beginning keyboarding, $10; physical science II, $10; advanced keyboarding, $10; biology II, $15; technology, $15; chem I, $15; foods, $15; chem II, $15; eighth-grade vocational, $15; physics, $15; driver education, $50; accounting, $10; P.E. uniforms, $10; intro to foods, $15; and OKAW Vocational, $ 7.
All fees are to be paid at the time of registration. Make checks payable to St. Elmo School District #202.
Meal fees:
• K-6 – Milk, 25 cents; $1.50, lunch; and reduced price lunch, 40 cents.
• K-12 – $1, breakfast, reduced-price breakfast, 30 cents.
• 7-12 – $1.75 lunch; and extra milk, 25 cents.
Students entering kindergarten, sixth grade and ninth grade, as well as any out of state registrants, must have current physicals.
Included on the health exam form are: diabetes screening, lead risk and TB skin test. In addition, all students entering kindergarten, second grade and sixth grade are required to have dental exams.
Also, under a new law, all children entering kindergarten or upon first entry into an Illinois school beyond kindergarten are required to have an eye examination.
Physical, dental and eye exam forms are accessible at any medical office.
All kindergarten students not previously registered must present a certified birth certificate from the county they were born in, immunization records, Social Security card, current school physical, eye exam and dental exam.
All athletics participants must have a physical by the first scheduled sports practice.
According to school board policy, new residents and current students with a change of address must submit evidence of residency; forms may be obtained from the school office.
Classes will begin with a half day for students on Thursday, Aug. 18.
Hours of attendance are: elementary, 8:20 a.m.-11:30 a.m.; and junior-senior high, 8:12 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Full-day attendance begins on Friday, Aug. 19. Hours of attendance are: grades K-6, 8:20 a.m.-3:10 p.m.; and grades 7-12, 8:12 a.m.-3:16 p.m.
Parents of new students will be notified of transportation arrangements prior to the first day of attendance.
First day of attendance for special education and vocational students who attend classes at Vandalia will be Monday, Aug. 22.
High school athletic admission charges for basketball and volleyball regular season home games are: adults, $3; students, $2, St. Elmo students with ID card, $1 (excluding tournaments); and seniors over 60, $1.
Tournament admission for junior-senior high games will be per IHSA regulations. St. Elmo Holiday Tournament game admission will be $4 for adults, $3 for students and $1 for senior citizens.
Junior high athletic admission charges for basketball and  volleyball regular season games are: adults, $2; students, $1; and seniors over 60, $1.
Fifth- and sixth-grade athletic admission charges for basketball, volleyball and tournaments are: adults and students, $1; and seniors over 60, free. The district will issue a family pass that will allow any family member free admittance to all home games at a price of $50 for the entire family (excluding tournaments). Family passes must be purchased at the unit office.
