Library starts adult reading program

Evans Public Library in Vandalia will be holding an adult reading program through April 6.
The program is open to individuals age 18 or older, and prizes will be given for every three books that are read.
The names of all participants will be put into a drawing for a Walmart gift card, and a prize will be given for the most books read.
The books, audio books or e-books must be checked out from Evans Public Library. Individuals may sign up at the library.

Vandalia Idol deadline is this Friday

This Friday is the final day to enter this year's Vandalia Idol competition held by Soroptimist International of Vandalia.
Auditions will be held on Saturdays, March 9 and 16, and the finale will be held on Saturday, March 23. The auditions and finale will be held at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Vandalia.

Historical, Genealogical Society to meet

The Fayette County Genealogical and Historical Society meets at 6 p.m. in the Lincoln Room at Evans Public Library in Vandalia.
Wilma Kruger and Judy Brazle will continue their presentation on the coming of the Brazles to Fayette County. Research has found 56 various spellings of the Brazle name.
The public is invited to attend the society's meetings, which are held on the first Tuesday of each month, except in July and December.

Pilcher Cemetery meeting is March 7

The annual Pilcher Cemetery meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, at the Otego Township building.
